Labeling Stickers
Labeling with stickers can help you organize any space and make it look neat and tidy. With this guide, we’ll show you how to choose the right type of sticker for the job and give you tips for successful application.

Choose the Right Type of Stickers
To ensure successful label application, it’s important to choose the right type of sticker for the job. If you’ll be labeling outside items, consider using weather- or sun-resistant stickers that won’t fade easily. On the other hand, if your project requires writable labels, look for special types of stickers that are specifically designed for writing on them with a pen or marker. Finally, there are also options available that can be printed with a laser or inkjet printer so you can customize your labels further.
Prepare your Surfaces for Application
Before you can apply any sticker labels, you need to make sure the surface is clean and dry. Remove any dust, dirt, or grime that may be present on the surface before beginning. If possible, lightly sand the surface before sticker application for better adhesion. Finally, make sure to use alcohol or a specialized window cleaner on glass surfaces in particular to remove any oils left behind by fingerprints.
Measure and Mark the Placement Areas
After ensuring the surface is clean and dry, you’re ready to begin marking where you’d like your labels to be. Use a ruler or measuring tape to measure out equal spacing between each sticker, or evenly spaced across the area. Once the measurements are established, use a light pencil to lightly mark each placement area. This will help ensure the label placements are even and consistent before application.
Peel Back & Apply Labels to Clean, Dry Surfaces
Once the placement areas are marked out, carefully peel back the labels from the backing sheet. Make sure to only remove one label at a time and avoid touching the adhesive side as much as you can. Gently place each label in its predetermined position, then press and smooth down firmly. Take your time with each sticker to ensure that no air bubbles or creases form underneath them. Once all of your labels are applied, you’re done!
Finish with Laminating & Protection Coats.
Lastly, consider adding lamination or a protection coat to your stickers. These added layers will ensure your labels stay crisp and brilliant even after long-term wear and tear. Laminating adds a thin layer of film over each label, creating a waterproof shield that fully encases the sticker. Also keep in mind that chalkboard labels may be particularly susceptible to smudges or discoloration over time; applying a coat of chalkboard wax after application is an excellent way to extend the life of these labels.
